About

The Social Media Network.

The Social Media Network is a direct response to the social worldwide evolution of communicative mediums brought on by mobile computing and the Internet. Breaking the mold of the millions of E-Business clubs, where they host just workshops and conferences, the Social Media Network takes it a level higher. Started and headquartered in Simon Fraser University, we are so much more than Facebooking or Tweeting!

The Social Media Network is not only a student organization, but a revolutionary way on approaching social media and human communicative media itself.

About The Social Media Network Collegiate Chapters

SMN Collegiate Chapters offer the opportunity for students at any post secondary institution a professional side of networking and gain valuable practical experience using social media; while having the social aspect of any club, having fun, meeting fellow students and developing new relationships.

To do this, the Social Media Network will reach out to the community, bringing in local social media experts and creating lasting relationships with the industry. The Social Media Network is striving to have a presence in all BC universities. We are starting up member recruitment in Fall 2011 in both Simon Fraser and the University of British Columbia.

Both chapters and future BC university chapters of the Social Media Network will use the same Blog Website Portal ReCultured.com and the same YouTube channel – theKommotion, forcing a critical mass of high traffic content and exposure for all members. One of the Social Media Network’s main goals is to create networking opportunities between universities.

The Core Concept.

Social Media is used by everybody that it’s hard to stand out through the over saturation. The Social Media Network is a way to help the ordinary student pierce through the saturation and gain valuable experience and networking opportunities.
