#EPIversary: Epicentr Gives Thanks

A version of this post also appears on Recultured.com

This is a Guest Post written by Orane Cheung, Agency Director of Epicentr, as part of their one year anniversary series.

Epicentr is a student-run social media agency under the SFU Social Media Network. We provide free social media services on-par with those of for-profit agencies to local Vancouver businesses and non-profit organizations to improve their online presence. We offer students the opportunity to gain experience by working hands-on with clients to develop social media strategies and campaigns. Social Starts Here. (Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram)

We all have to start somewhere. In Epicentr’s case, it started with a conversation one year ago between Mark Woo, Dean Tsatouhas, and Spencer Toth from the Social Media Network at The Network Hub. After a while of banging their heads on the wall trying to figure out how to make this student-run agency work, they hammered out the foundational details… and let’s just say the rest is history.

With a little (okay, a lot) of help from our friends, we’ve made it to this milestone moment and I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for all their support and contributions, no matter how big or small it was. I am gushing with endless gratitude and on a mission to share thanks. This moment belongs to all of you as much as it belongs to us. Cheers to you!

The Social Media Network

From speaker sessions, workshops, to agency tours, The Social Media Network Vancouver and SFU’s collegiate chapter have been a wealth of knowledge. Always eager to share their stories with you or grab a cup of Joe.  It’s hard to believe that it’s only been one year but it feels like we’ve become a family, filled with so much happiness, joy, and love.

The Network Hub

If The Social Media Network is our family, then our home must be The Network Hub. This downtown gem was where all the magic first started. We cannot thank Minna Van enough for letting us use their beautiful space!

Of course, Epicentr wouldn’t get very far if it weren’t for our clients. Thank you for trusting us to come in and take over your social media networks for months and providing students with this invaluable opportunity. Thank you for spoiling us with everything from flowers, bahn mi’s, to chocolates!

Thank you!

The past year has been an incredible journey, with countless memories and many friendships formed along the way. Words cannot express how grateful we are to have this opportunity to shake up the Vancouver social media scene. Here’s to many more years to come!
