SMN Stories: Our Favourite Things About the ‘ber Months

Written by Anneliese Herbosa, Content Manager of The Social Media Network 2013-14.

Every week, we’ll be asking our team questions about anything and everything, and we encourage you to chime in. We want you to get to know us. And we want to get to know you, too! Follow along with our weekly series: #SMNstories.

This week, we wanted to know what our team loves the most during the ‘ber months – September through to December. These are a few of our favourite things…

Crisp late fall-winter air. When you take a breath and it goes down cool. The first frost is always a good time. When you step on the grass and it makes that crunch sound. The weather is usually terrible, so you really appreciate when the sun comes out. (Tony)

Replacing all iced drink-consumption with warm hot chocolate, pumpkin spice and peppermint lattes, and london fogs! It makes the cold more tolerable. (Gracelle)

The ‘ber months are awesome because there are so many holidays! Halloween being one of my personal favorites. I can’t wait to go out to the pumpkin patch and carve a pumpkin! And don’t even get me started on how much I love pumpkin pie. The ‘ber months are so exciting! (Corinne)

I’m a hoodie fiend, so I take much pleasure in unearthing my zip-ups and pullovers. I also have a strange affinity for pumpkin spice lattes. And it’s my birthday season. Plus, this song. On repeat. Even if it’s not the twenty-first evening of September… So: sweater weather, PSL, cake, Earth, Wind & Fire. (Anneliese)

I love jackets and scarves! Plus always great fashion in season. It’s also my birthday, Halloween, Christmas and Thanksgiving. A perfect time to watch old Charlie Brown holiday episodes with a cup of hot chocolate. (Diana)

Scarves, boots, and Charlie Brown. Diana and I are on the exact same wavelength. And crunchy leaves, can’t forget about those. (Orane)

I’m more productive at night time, so the ‘ber months are ideal for my productivity with shorter days. It’s also a plus that most insects are gone! (Mark)

The only time I’m okay with doing school work is during the ‘ber months. The crisp weather outside that makes you feel cozy at home with a cup of tea while looking at the colourful leaves/white snow. And comfy sweaters. And what Mark said about the insects too, when all the mosquitoes die and disintegrate into nothingness. (Julia)

I’m with Julia… sitting at home on your couch next to the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa in hand, no better feeling in the world.  Extra points if it is pouring outside and you can hear the raindrops on the ceiling. (Kirsty)

They provide a better ambience for sad music. (Ralph)

So what about you? What are a few of your favourite things about the ‘ber months?
